『留学経験者が教える』留学するなら語学学校と大学どっちがいい？Part 2

As I mentioned to you guys in the last blog, I am going to tell you what it is like to attend a university abroad.
First of all/初めに
今回は、前回の続きで、留学で、大学に行くメリットとデメリットについてお話します。
Actually, I have attended a university for about 1 year in the United States. I took a gap year from my university in Japan to attend a university in the US.
実際、私は、1年間休学してアメリカの私立大学に行きました。

■メリット/Pros
・You will be able to have a chance to hear natural English all the time since you will take various subjects in English. Thus, you will have an opportunity to improve your listening English
多くの授業が英語での授業のため、実際に、ネイティブの方たちの英語を聞いて、リスニング力を向上するチャンスがある。
・In any university, there are clubs and events where you can meet people who have similar interests as you. For example, sports clubs, culture clubs, and various events that the university does.
ほとんどの大学では、日本の大学と同じで、イベントやサークルなどがあり、そこで、いろんな人を知り合うことができる。具体的には、文化サークルやスポーツサークルなど
がある。日本語に興味がある学生が作った日本語サークルもある大学もある。
・You will learn more about the country's culture during class time and when you hang out with native speakers since there is a bunch of native speakers in a university.
大学では、多くの学生がネイティブなので、授業の間や、その人たちと遊んでいる時に、文化や価値観なども学ぶことができる。
・Depending on the university you choose to attend, there may be more or fewer students from own your country.
これは、大学と行く場所によるが、アメリカの私立大学の場合は、日本人の数は、他のアジアの国に比べて少ない。
・In some universities, there is an English language program where you will learn English suitable for writing assignments, given presentations, and overall communication within the university before you take subjects in English.
いくつかの大学では、英語を授業を取る前に、言語プログラムがあり、そこで、エッセイの書き方や、プレゼンテーションのやり方、そして、日常会話から大学でコミニケーションまで教えてくれる。もし、英語に自身がない人は、これを取ることで、基本的なことを学ぶことができる。
■デメリット/Cons
・It costs a fortune to attend a university compared to a language school.
ほとんどの大学では、語学学校に比べて、コストがかかる。
・Classes will be really hard if you do not study. Unlike language schools, you will learn subjects in English. Also, you will take a class with native speakers. It means that if there is something that you do not understand, you need to research it by yourself or ask your professor or native friends.
大学は、テスト勉強や授業の復習、予習などをしないとかなり難しい。語学学校とは違い、英語で何かを学ぶことなる。加えて、ネイティブの人たちと同じ授業を取るということは、相当難しいと言える。なので、自分からリサーチして教授に聞きに行く必要がある。
・ Most Universities require you to have a specific score such as TOEFL and IELTS. although you would like to take a class in English if you don't have the required test score, the university will not allow you to take the class.
ほとんどの大学では、大学が定めたTOEFLやIELTSのスコアを大学に提出しなければ、普通の英語で行われている授業を受けることができないため、たとえ、普通のクラスをネイティブの人たちを一緒に取りたくても、言語プログラムからとらなければならない。
Conclusion
I have mentioned to you guys both of pros and cons of attending either a university or a language school. Personally, I recommend you to attend a university because you may have more opportunities to learn something new besides English. Also, if you would like to study English, you are able to take an English language program at the university.
ここまで、大学と語学学校のメリットを紹介してきました。個人的に、大学をおすすめします。その理由は、ネイティブの方と会う機会が非常に多いし、英語を通して、何かまた新しいことを大学で勉強できるからです。加えて、大学には、言語プログラムがあるので、英語も勉強することができるので、大学をおすすめします。
However, It really depends on you. If you want to go to a language school, it would be great!! You will save a ton of money and be able to learn something new besides English if you try to challenge yourself!
しかし、語学学校も良い面はたくさんあります！お金も節約できるし、努力次第では、大学より良い経験ができると思います！
The most important thing is to decide and think about what you would like to achieve before you go to study abroad. If you just want to study English, you could study it in Japan coz there are enough resources and people to help you. Therefore, you can save money and you don't have to study abroad. However, if you would like to study a country's culture and or lifestyle, you should go study abroad to get awesome experiences.
留学する前に考えないといけないことは、何をするために留学をするのかと、ゴールをしっかり決めることです。もし、英語を勉強したいなら、日本でできると思います。これは、私が、留学に行ったからこそ実感しました。日本は、昔と違い、大きくの外国人と多くのイベントなどがあります。そのようなものを利用すれば、英語は、留学しなくても向上します。
しかし、英語以外に、文化やライフスタイル、新たなことに挑戦したい方などは、ぜひ留学をおすすめします。
